{"id":2169,"date":"2023-12-13T12:17:07","date_gmt":"2023-12-13T10:17:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/intero.gr\/?p=2169"},"modified":"2024-02-21T12:21:33","modified_gmt":"2024-02-21T10:21:33","slug":"annual-meeting-of-the-european-council-of-religious-leaders-ecrl-in-berlin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/intero.gr\/?p=2169&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Annual meeting of the European Council of Religious Leaders \u2013 ECRL in  Berlin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/rfpeurope.org\/european-council-of-religious-leaders\/\">European Council of Religious Leaders<\/a> held its annual meeting in<br \/>\nBerlin from the 11th to the 13th of December 2023 with the theme:<br \/>\n\u201cReligion as a dividing or a connecting factor in European societies and<br \/>\ncommunities\u201d. The meeting took place at the Hotel Dietrich Bonhoeffer<br \/>\nHaus, which was named after the distinguished pastor and theologian<br \/>\nDietrich Bonhoeffer who paid the ultimate price. He was executed by the<br \/>\nNazis, for refusing to compromise with the Nazi regime, remaining true<br \/>\nto his moral principles, in religion, and in his Christian beliefs.<br \/>\nPermanent member of ECRL Council is His Eminence Metropolitan Ioannis of<br \/>\nThermopylae, Director of the Interorthodox Centre of the Church of<br \/>\nGreece. This year, the main concern of the ECRL meeting was the<br \/>\never-increasing polarization and divisions in European societies &#8211;<br \/>\ncommunities, as well as what religious and inter-religious bodies could<br \/>\ndo so as to contribute to strengthening stability and social harmony in<br \/>\nEurope but also beyond the European continent.<br \/>\nThe ECRL strongly condemned Hamas and any act of terrorism that takes<br \/>\nthe lives of innocent people. The participants expressed their<br \/>\nsolidarity with all the innocent victims of the ongoing armed conflict,<br \/>\nboth on the Israeli and Palestinian sides.
